Spasmolytic, analgesic, antipyretic
Properties
- Propyphenazone possesses analgesic, antipyretic properties.
- Hexahydroadiphenine HCl exerts a reliable spasmolytic effect.
- Codeine phosphate serves to relieve pain.

Indications
Spasmo-Cibalgin is used to relieve brief episodes of spastic pain e.g. pain referable to gastrointestinal tract, billiary passages, or urogenital tract; dysmenorrhea.
Spasmo-Cibalgin Comp. (supp.) relieves in addition to the above post-traumatic and post-operative pain associated with spasm (also in gynecology).

Dosage
Adults and adolescents aged 14 years or older: 1 tablet or suppository 2-3 times daily.
Spasmo-Cibalgin Comp. Is not employed to treat children under 14 years of age.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the active substances, G6PDH deficiency, porphyria, glaucoma, megacolon, chronic constipation. Spasmo-Cibalgin Comp. is also contraindicated in conditions involving central respiratory depression and in patients with a history of alcohol abuse or abuse of (centrally acting) drugs.

Precautions
Like all analgesics, Spasmo-Cibalgin, and Spasmo-Cibalgin Comp. should not be taken continuously over a prolonged period. Caution should be exercised in the presence of hepatic, renal and blood disorders as well as in patients suffering from asthma.

Adverse reaction
Rarely: Hypersensitivity reactions (either localized or systemic, e.g. skin rash, urticaria, anaphylactic reactions, bronchospasm, shock), and gastro-intestinal discomfort. Also tachycardia and excitability mainly in elderly patients. Isolated cases of leucopenia agranulocytosis.

Preghnancy and lactation
During the first trimester and the last 4 weeks of pregnancy, and during lactation, Spasmo-Cibalgin should only be used for compelling reasons.
