Composition
Each 5 ml contains: Pectin 22 mg Kaolin 986 mg

Properties / Effects
Kaolin is an adsorbent agent, used as adjunct to rehydration therapy in the management of diarrhea; Pectin supports this effect as a bulk forming and slowering the bulk movement inside the intestine. Their co-administration is advantageous in relieving the symptoms of diarrhea.

Indications
PECTO-KAO is indicated in the treatment of common, non infectious diarrhea.

Contraindications
None.

Interactions
Kaolin can form insoluble complexes in the gastro-intestinal tract with a number of other drugs, Pectin solidifies the bulk inside the intestine, they work together in reducing the absorption of other drugs. Therefore it is advisable to take PECTO-KAO 1 or 2 hours before taking any other drug.

Warning
Don’t use for more than two successive days or in diarrhea associated with fever.

Dosage

Adults: 4-8 tablespoonfuls daily.
Children:
Over 12 years: 4 tablespoonfuls daily
From 6-1 2 years: 2-4 tablespoonfuls daily
From 3-6 years: 1-2 tablespoonfuls daily
Under 3 years & infants : as directed by the physician.
