17 Million Deaths Worldwide Attributed to Heart Diseases
The World Health Report 2006, warns that even in many developing countries, cardiovascular diseases (hypertension, ischemia, stroke) have become the leading cause of mortality amounting to 17 million deaths worldwide.
Although already very large, this figure is projected to rise substantially over the coming years with a threefold increase expected in the Middle-East.
